Nari Niketan gets dedicated ambulance service for first time in Dehradun

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Dehradun district administration has introduced a dedicated ambulance service at Nari Niketan in the provisional State capital for the first time. Besides this, the administration also provided an ambulance equipped with modern facilities and a Moksh Vahan (hearse) to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay district hospital.

The Rajpur Road MLA Khajan Das and the Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal flagged off these three vehicles from the Collectorate premises on Tuesday, marking their deployment for public service.

The DM informed that under this initiative, Rs 28 lakh from the district mineral foundation trust (DMFT) was allocated for the purchase of an ambulance and a hearse for the Coronation Hospital.

Besides this, Rs 13 lakh from the district plan was used to procure an ambulance for Nari Niketan. Das appreciated the district administration’s decision, stating that the addition of two ambulances and a hearse will help strengthen the healthcare system at Coronation Hospital and Nari Niketan. He stated that the absence of a hearse in the hospital had caused difficulties in the past, which will now be addressed.

Bansal also said that the Coronation Hospital required an additional ambulance and Nari Niketan did not previously have a dedicated vehicle for medical transport. The residents of Nari Niketan, including destitute individuals, orphaned children and mentally challenged women, often faced challenges in reaching healthcare facilities, he said. He further stated that to ensure smooth operations, a driver has been appointed for Nari Niketan’s ambulance. The departments concerned have been directed to ensure the proper utilisation of these vehicles and provide efficient services to those in need, Bansal added.
