The Public Works Department has not yet started repairing the Narsinh Mandir motor road in Joshimath. If the road is not repaired before the start of the Char Dham Yatra next month, the pilgrims and other travelers may have to face problems. This road is used for traffic to the Badrinath temple. At present, there are issues at two spots on this road which has made it problematic for large vehicles to pass.
The pilgrimage to Badrinath will start with the reopening of the shrine on April 27. The authorities are working to improve the arrangements in view of the pilgrimage but the Narsinh Mandir road which connects the Marwadi Chowk to the petrol pump is yet to be repaired. The road is subsiding at two spots due to the wall being damaged. The PWD has not yet started the work of repairing the road at these spots. This is part of the major road leading to Badrinath and devotees from across the nation and abroad pay their obeisance at the Narsinh temple before visiting Badrinath. The road sank in during the recent past due to which the traffic of heavy vehicles was also affected for some days. Problems are still being faced by large vehicles crossing this patch.
According to the PWD, the Narsinh Mandir road is damaged at two sites. Tenders will be issued soon to undertake the repairs and the task will be completed before the start of the Yatra, said the officials.
