Nation now moving towards freedom in real sense: CM

Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat inaugurated the Amrit Mahotsav at Pavilion Ground to celebrate the 75th year of Independence. Speaking on the occasion, Rawat said that the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking India towards the self reliance that MK Gandhi had imagined.

Recalling the struggles and sacrifices of the freedom fighters, the CM said that their only dream was to free the nation from colonial rule. “Gandhiji had launched the Salt Satyagraha on this day as part of the freedom movement. At the same time, the struggles of revolutionaries like Veer Savarkar, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Subhas Chandra Bose, Khudiram Bose and others will also continue to inspire us,” said the CM. He also appreciated the steps taken by PM Modi for reintegrating Jammu and Kashmir with the national mainstream. Referring to steps like abrogation of article 370 and the triple talaq law, Rawat said that today one can say that the nation is moving towards complete independence in the real sense. MPs Ajay Bhatt, Naresh Bansal, Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal, MLA Khajan Das, chief secretary Om Prakash, information secretary Dilip Jawalkar and members of the public were also present on the occasion.
