National Commission for Minorities’ head visits violence affected Vanbhulphura

The chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities, Iqbal Singh along with two members of the commission visited violence affected locations of the Vanbhulpura area in Haldwani on Wednesday. He conducted an on-site inspection of the arson- affected police station in the area. The police station in-charge Neeraj Bhakuni told Singh that a total of 11 members were present in the police station at the time of the incident including three magistrates and other police personnel.
The miscreants had surrounded the police station from both sides after which they indulged in arson, vandalism and stone pelting. Singh also conducted the inspection of the government land from where the authorities cleared the encroachment that later led to the riot. He also sought detailed information about the incident from city magistrate Richa Singh and sub divisional magistrate Paritosh Verma. Besides this, he also interacted with local people and sought detailed information regarding the incident. Singh said on the occasion that the incident of violence in Vanbhulpura is condemnable. He said, “We want harmony, peace and tranquillity to be restored here. The commission appeals to all to extend their full cooperation in maintaining peace and harmony in the area.”
