National Games go green with e-waste medals & other stationeries

Sports minister Rekha Arya informed that medals, stationery, caps and other items for the upcoming 38th National Games have been created using e-waste. She made this statement during her inspection of these items here on Friday. Additionally, she also conducted a review meeting with the officials concerned about the preparations for the event.
Arya emphasised that the theme of the National Games, being held in the State is “Green Games”. To support this theme, efforts are being made to ensure that only items made from recycled e-waste are utilised during the organisation of the games. She detailed that the medals, trophies, mementos, shawls, caps awarded to the players, as well as cups, plates, utensils and thermoses used during the events, all have been created from e-waste. Even the invitation cards for the National Games have been made using recycled materials, she said.
Arya further informed that while inspecting the items for the National Games, she instructed the officials regarding areas that needed improvement. She said that during the review meeting officials concerned informed her that some of the equipment necessary for all events in the National Games has already arrived and the remaining equipment is expected to be delivered by January 10. In light of this, she instructed the officials to form a coordination team to collaborate with other departments involved in the event.
