The excitement of the Winter Carnival and National Skiing Championship is all set to start in Auli from Friday. All preparations for this have meanwhile been completed. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj are most likely to attend the inaugural programme. All the teams arrived in Auli on Thursday to participate in the competition. The events will be formally inaugurated from 7 AM on Friday.

Due to less snowfall in Auli this year, all the competitions will be conducted above the number eight tower only where nets have been installed on both sides of the slope to keep it safe.
The ITBP deputy commandant, Nanak Chand said that alpine skiing, snowboarding and ski mountaineering would be held on internationally standard FIS slopes.

The secretary of the Winter Games Association of Uttarakhand, Rakesh Ranjan Bhilangwal described the ski slope inspection in Auli as extremely positive and encouraging. “The cooperation of ITBP, GMVN and all related departments is commendable and everyone is committed to ensuring a safe and secure Winter Games,” he said.

“This event is linked to the prestige of Uttarakhand, the future of the youth and the global identity of the State. So we are leaving no stone unturned to make it historic,” he added.
