Natives enthused to reconnect with roots, invest in Uttarakhand
Skills & experience of non-resident Uttarakhandis needed to fulfill State’s aspirations: CM

Non-resident Uttarakhandis expressed their enthusiasm to reconnect with the roots and invest in various sectors in the State during the first Antarrashtriya Pravasi Uttarakhandi Sammelan held here on Sunday. Inaugurating the event, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that there are considerable investment opportunities in the State which is developing at a brisk place.
There is major investment scope in adventure tourism, power generation, aromatics, agriculture, horticulture, AYUSH and wellness, among other spheres in Uttarakhand. The State government has made various policy and structural reforms to develop Uttarakhand as an investment destination, he said, while adding that strict legal provisions have also been made for a society free from fear and crime. Dhami exhorted the non-resident Uttarakhandis to adopt some village or locality and develop and protect it in order to resolve the problem of migration. “The State needs your skills, experience and technical knowledge, which is also important for meeting the aspirations of the State,” he said. The CM said that Uttarakhand natives across the nation and abroad are known for their honesty and hard working nature which earns them respect.
“Uttarakhand is going to reach a milestone in 2025. This year marks the silver jubilee of the State’s foundation and Uttarakhand is also set to host the National Games this year. We are going to implement the Uniform Civil Code this year. Recently, we also started winter tourism which will prove to be a gamechanger for the State’s economy,” he said.
Sharing their experience at the event, non-resident Uttarakhandis recalled who they had spent their childhood here, adding that there has been much change in the State since then. Stating that in the past they had to go abroad in search of employment, they said that there are ample employment opportunities for the youths in the State today. Girish Pant, Anita Sharma, Dev Raturi, Vinod Jethudi, AK Kala and Shailesh Upreti, among others, appreciated the CM and the State government for the initiative, adding that the event had given them an opportunity to connect with their roots and do something for their native land. Collective efforts using their experience, technical knowledge and skills along with the State government can help resolve the problem of migration. They further said that all the non-resident Uttarakhandis should definitely adopt remote villages and at least a child too.
Various sessions were held during the event to discuss various aspects. During the discussion on scope for investment in manufacturing, energy production and startups, Brosten Group chairman AK Kala from Thailand said that after working abroad for 30 years, he is preparing to open a manufacturing unit in India, adding that he will accord priority to Uttarakhand. Founder of Mandala Global from Singapore, Meenakshi Arora Dabral said that she is trying to make products of Uttarakhand’s women entrepreneurs available on her e-commerce platform. She also appreciated the House of Himalaya brand prepared by the State government. Other natives settled in various parts of the world also expressed their views and shared their experiences on the occasion.
