Navratri to be celebrated as festival of feminine power

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Chaitra Navratri which is beginning on March 22 and will continue till 30 March would be celebrated as the festival of feminine power. As part of the chief minister’s instruction, the festival would be celebrated this way in each district of Uttarakhand. The State government department of culture has given an amount to each of the district magistrates of the State to meet the expenses.
The secretary of the State cultural department Hari Chand Semwal said that the CM thinks that the spiritual-cultural role of the Devi is immense in Uttarakhand. “Nanda Devi embodies not just our faith but represents the feminine power. It is in this context that the CM has said that in each district of the State, the Devi would be worshipped as part of celebrating the feminine power during the upcoming Navratri festival. In this celebration, the women and the girls would be involved, in particular. The committees being formed under the chairmanship of the district magistrates would oversee the celebration in the special way.” He further said that the places where the special programmes would be held would be cleaned and adequately illuminated and along with it, sound system would be put into place. For this, a certain amount has been given to each of the districts, he added.
