NDA aspirant found dead at coaching academy, suicide suspected

A 17-year-old student died by suspected suicide at Chanakya Academy in Kalagaon area under Rajpur police station on Saturday. Police officials said at first glance the matter appears to be a case of suicide.

The deceased was identified as Aryan Raj, a resident of Hazaribagh district in Jharkhand. Police said he had recently come to Dehradun and joined the academy to prepare for the entrance test to the National Defence Academy.

According to the police, the information about the student was given by an employee of the academy. After finding the student, staff members immediately took him to a private hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

After receiving the information, a police team from Rajpur police station reached the academy and inspected the spot. A field unit team also visited the scene and collected evidence. Police checked CCTV cameras installed in the accommodation area. During the initial investigation, the footage reportedly showed the student hanging himself.

Police have informed the family members of the student about the incident. After their arrival, legal formalities including inquest proceedings will be completed. The body will also be sent for post-mortem examination. Police officials said that prima facie the matter appears to be a case of suicide. However, they added that a detailed investigation is being carried out from all angles to find the exact reason behind the incident.
