Nearly two lakh pilgrims register for Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib Yatra on first day

The online registration process for the Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib Yatra 2025 began on Thursday, witnessing an overwhelming response from devotees. Within the first three hours of the registration going live, more than 32,000 people had already secured their slots for the pilgrimage. The total number of registrations had crossed 1.65 lakh by 5 PM, reflecting the enthusiasm among devotees.
The Uttarakhand government, prioritising the convenience of pilgrims, has started the registration process 40 days before the commencement of the Yatra on April 30. This early registration is expected to streamline the management of the pilgrimage and ensure a smoother experience for visitors as the situation had become quite chaotic last year. Pilgrims can register online from the comfort of their homes through the official website of the Uttarakhand Tourism department registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in. The process requires an Aadhaar card for verification, allowing travellers to complete their registration without hassle.
The government has introduced this system well in advance to avoid last-minute congestion and ensure a well organised pilgrimage season. This year, 60 per cent of the total registrations will be conducted online while 40 per cent will be available through offline modes. According to the officials, this system aims to accommodate pilgrims who might not have access to online registration facilities and reduce the inconvenience faced by those arriving without prior booking.
To facilitate seamless registration, the number of registration centres in key locations like Haridwar and Rishikesh, as well as along the pilgrimage routes, will be increased. During the initial 15 days of the Yatra, these centres will remain open 24 hours a day to assist travellers, as per the officials. They said that with the registration process now in full swing, the government is focused on ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well organised Char Dham Yatra for all devotees.
