Need to work against discrimination in society: Arya

The State minister for Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) Rekha Arya said foeticide is still prevalent in society and people should ensure that there is no discrimination between son and daughter. She said this during the child creativity festival on Friday which was organised at Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST). Children from 12 States participated in this festival which started on June 14.
Addressing the children she said, “Social evils like foeticide are still common in our society. To end this everyone has to come together and ensure that there is no discrimination between son and daughter.”
She further stressed that parents and society must ensure equal opportunities to both genders so that they can achieve their full potential. She stressed on the need for society to ensure education, security and development of girls.
