Negi directs Pithoragarh DM to ensure safe arrival of Nepalese students at border

Stating that 39 Nepalese students of a Buddhist school in Dehradun where a teacher reportedly committed suicide recently wanted to return to Nepal, the chairperson of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Usha Negi directed the district magistrate (DM) of Pitthoragarh to ensure the safe arrival of the students to the Nepal border.

On Tuesday, Negi went to visit the Buddhist school located in Purkul area of Dehradun to interact with the students who wished to return to Nepal. As informed by the SCPCR officials, the students are probably going through shock due to the sudden demise of one of their teachers, so the commission also provided professional counselling to the students.

Negi also told the students that if they wish to come back to this school again from Nepal in a few months, they would have to first inform the school management who will then notify the commission and the district administration about their arrival, stated the officials. They further added that SCPCR has also sent the list of Nepalese students to the Nepalese embassy and Indian Embassy and informed them about planned students’ departure from the school.
