In latest news from Uttarakhand, tiger mauled to death a 22-year-old Nepal native identified as Shiva who was cutting bush in the Dhikala zone of Jim Corbett National Park. It is learnt that Shiva was busy cutting bush along with 10 others in the presence of some forest department staffers in the machan number 1 of the Dhikala zone when the big cat pounced upon him. Hearing his scream, others rushed to the spot. But as the tiger roared, they ran back and kept screaming. The tiger kept grabbing Shiva in its mouth by his shoulder. It was then that the forest staffers present there shot two/three rounds in the air to shoo away the beast. This worked and the tiger fled into the forest, leaving Shiva in a pool of blood. He was transported quickly to Ramnagar government hospital where he was declared brought dead. Notably, as the Dhikala zone is all set to be opened for the tourists on November 15 forest staffers are now busy with works like bush clearing.
It is pertinent to mention here that a woman was mauled to death by a tiger just three days ago in the Ampokhra range of Corbett National Park in Ramnagar.
