New AIIMS- R Dept to combine conventional & evidence based medicinal systems

The Department of Integrative Medicine inaugurated by the Union Ninister of Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda on April 15 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh is a unique initiative within the AIIMS network. The health institute claims that the new department is dedicated to providing patient-centric healthcare by combining conventional medicine with evidence-based traditional systems.
The AIIMS Rishikesh executive director Dr Meenu Singh said that this new department represents a milestone in public health. “We are proud to pioneer integrative healthcare services that combine scientific advances with traditional wisdom under one roof,” she said.
The head of department of Integrative Medicine, Dr Monika Pathania emphasised that the initiative’s focus on implementing research into practice. “Our aim is to make integrative medicine an accessible and evidence-based option for patients from all walks of life,” she stated. She also added that the same system has been practiced in premier institutions across the globe, including the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic.
The senior nedical officer from the Department of AYUSH Dr Sriloy Mohanty said that integrative care models have already been successfully piloted in the geriatric ward and pediatric oncology units. He added that a gradual expansion to other departments is underway.
