New bill to ensure transparency in management of Waqf properties: CM

Expressing happiness at the passage of the Waqf (amendment) bill-2025 by both the houses of the parliament, Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the bill is an important step towards ensuring transparency, justice and protection of constitutional rights of the citizens.
Taking to social media on Friday, the CM said that the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is consistently working for judicial reforms and providing good governance in the country. He said that the objective of the Waqf amendment bill is to ensure transparency in management of Waqf properties in the country. The bill will also result in maintaining judicial balance and legal clarity in the Waqf properties, he said.
Dhami added that the bill is not against any specific community but it has been brought to safeguard the rights of the people of the country. He averred that the implementation of the act will result in putting a break in the illegal claims which will help in impartial solution of the land and property disputes. The new law will also help in preventing the misuse of the Waqf properties and ensuring their use in the broad interest of the society.
