After days of hectic parleys, the Congress veteran Siddaramaiah has been sworn in as the chief minister of Karnataka while the State Congress president D K Shivakumar, seen as the principal architect of the party’s emphatic victory in the State, has taken oath as the deputy chief minister in Bengaluru. At the same time, the Congress MLAs, including G Parameshwara, Satish Jarkiholi, K H Muniyappa, Ramalinga Reddy, K J George, M B Patil, Priyank Kharge and B Z Ahmed Khan, have been sworn in as ministers in the new cabinet.
In order to show the Opposition unity, the Congress invited a number of Opposition leaders from the states to attend the oath taking ceremony.
