In an effort to enhance care for infants, the hospital administration has appointed a new medical officer designated to the recently established Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) at Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital. Stating this, the medical superintendent Dr VS Chauhan informed that two pediatrician positions have been approved for the SNCU ward. Currently, while one of these positions has been filled, the other remains vacant. Further, the paediatrician who was initially appointed has taken a leave of absence and has not yet returned. In light of this situation, the relevant officials have appointed Dr Meena Srivastav as a new paediatrician for the SNCU ward, as he later specified. He additionally noted that the position of paediatrician remains unfilled. To address this situation and to prevent any inconvenience for patients, the hospital administration has appointed a medical officer to oversee the SNCU ward at Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital. He further added that the National Health Mission (NHM) has also assigned two medical officers to the SNCU ward to enhance better care for infants at the ward.
It will be recalled that one of the recently hired paediatricians, out of the two positions allocated for the SNCU ward, has taken a short leave for personal reasons and was expected to return within 15 to 20 days. In light of the paediatrician’s temporary absence, the hospital administration had proactively arranged for continued operation of the ward. In response to this need, three pediatricians from government hospitals in Rishikesh, Mussoorie and Raipur have been temporarily reassigned to the ward. Each paediatrician has served in phases of 15 days, with one doctor starting, completing their tenure, and then passing the baton to the next paediatrician for the following 15-day period, and so forth.
