NIA raids Doon & Bajpur locations as part of crackdown on gangster-terrorist nexus

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday morning conducted raids in Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar districts as part of its crackdown on gangster-terrorist nexus, as per the officials. They informed that an NIA team raided the house of a gun house owner named Parikshit Negi in Dehradun’s Clement Town area. The team arrived around 7 AM and searched the house of Negi. According to the officials, Negi is reportedly connected to the recovery of over 2,000 rounds of ammunition including imported cartridges in Delhi in August last year. The NIA had also registered a case against him in the matter, as per the officials. The officials also informed that another NIA team raided the house of a man named Asim in Udham Singh Nagar’s Bajpur area. Asim was purportedly connected to the Nabha jailbreak case, as per the officials. They said that a group of gangsters dressed as policemen opened fire at security guards at Punjab’s Nabha jail on November 27, 2016 and freed four gangsters and two terrorists. Besides conducting raids in Dehradun and Bajpur, the NIA teams also raided over 50 locations across Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan on Wednesday.
