The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) ward at Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital will soon be activated to improve patient facilities, district magistrate Savin Bansal said. He said this in a meeting with the officials concerned on Monday. He informed that the nursing staff for the Specialised Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) has been interviewed and a pediatrician has been deployed. Apart from this, the nursing staff working in the NICU ward will receive a 5 per cent salary increment every three months. This will make the nursing staff more self-reliant and capable, he added.
He further said that with the operation of the NICU ward, institutional deliveries at the district hospital are expected to increase, reducing the need for visits to expensive hospitals. Additionally, a dedicated vehicle has been arranged for the NICU ward to transport children, he said.
