Following the approval for science stream affiliation by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) has commenced enrollment of the students for the science stream in classes XI and XII on June 15. The application registration period will remain open for one month to allow students to enroll in the science stream at NIEPVD. Stating this, NIEPVD principal Amit Sharma informed that in the past only humanities subjects were taught to students with disabilities in classes XI and XII at NIEPVD, with no option for science stream. He said that in order to provide equal opportunities to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in all fields, they had formally requested affiliation for the science stream for classes XI and XII at NIEPVD. Considering this, the CBSE has recently granted approval for the affiliation and granted us permission to enroll students with disabilities in class XI and XII under the science stream. He further emphasised that the online registration process for filling the registration application form started on June 15. Interested individuals can complete the online registration for enrolling in the science stream for the specified classes by visiting the NIEPVD website or by personally visiting the office to fill out the form offline. He stressed that this being the inaugural year for enrolling students in the science stream under senior secondary classes, only 10 seats are available for enrollment in NIEPVD.He informed that for the science stream, braille books have been printed and teachers for the physics subject have been hired. Additionally, teachers for chemistry and mathematics subjects will be appointed soon. Meanwhile, the science teachers of classes X and IX will teach the students in the secondary classes. He highlighted the primary objective behind enrolling students in the science stream is that individuals with disabilities who wish to pursue a career in the field of science should consider enrolling in the science stream at NIEPVD rather than attending a private school. By doing so, they can acquire knowledge tailored to their understanding and excel in the field, he added.
