The National Institute of Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) in collaboration with Max Hospital will be hosting a one-day free hearing screening and cochlear implant camp in the city on December 17.
Audiologist at NIEPVD Mohammad Ahfan said on Wednesday that the camp is meant to raise awareness about cochlear implants and offer free check-ups and necessary hearing devices to children between the age of zero and four years, adding that the camp would be held from 9 am to 2 pm. He requested the parents to bring their children to the camp.
Speaking of the primary objective of the camp, he said that NIEPVD through this initiative is out to provide assistance to financially disadvantaged children who may also have limited knowledge about cochlear implants. “Qualified doctors from Max Hospital will be present at the camp to conduct the cochlear implant procedures,” he said.
In order to register for the upcoming camp, the parents should contact NIEPVD on the number 8445528300, he added.
Notably, NIEPVD organises this camp annually in Dehradun to assist financially disadvantaged children along with raising awareness about the new techniques.
