Night curfew hours extended, weekend curfew in all districts from today

Stepping up measures to tackle the surge in Covid-19 cases, the state government has extended the duration of the night curfew in the state. From Sunday, the night curfew will be imposed in all districts from 9 PM to 5 PM. Further, while weekly Covid curfew will be imposed in Dehradun city on Saturday and Sunday, in the other districts the weekly curfew will be imposed every Sunday. The weekend curfews will continue throughout April.
According to the guidelines issued by chief secretary Om Prakash on Saturday, the night curfew which was imposed first in Dehradun from April 10 and in the remaining districts from April 16 from 10:30 PM to 5 AM will now be imposed across the state from Sunday from 9 PM to 5 AM. In the area under the purview of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) in Dehradun district, weekend Covid curfews will be imposed every Saturday and Sunday. In the rest of the districts, the weekend Covid curfew will be imposed every Sunday. In Dehradun district, the governmental and non governmental offices related to essential services will remain open on Saturday also.
Employees of industrial units where work is done in shifts, movement of people and goods for emergency operation on national and state highways, those involved in loading and unloading of goods carriage vehicles, those going to their destination after deboarding buses, trains and flights, and those involved in marriage functions will be allowed relaxation during the restrictions. Citizens aged above 65 years, those with comorbidities, pregnant women and children aged below 10 years are advised to remain indoors and venture out only if necessary.
As stated in the earlier guidelines, Covid appropriate behaviour- wearing masks in public, maintaining social distancing and frequent washing of hands will be mandatory for all locals and tourists in all public places. Further, all public transport vehicles will operate at 50 per cent capacity. Cinema halls, restaurants and bars too will function at 50 per cent capacity. All gymnasiums will function at 50 per cent capacity while coaching institutes in all districts will be shut down.
