Night curfew imposed in Dehradun city, relaxation provided in some cases
Following the cabinet decision to impose night curfew in Dehradun city considering the rising numbers of Covid-19 cases, the Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Kumar Srivastava ordered night curfew in the city from Saturday night. The night curfew announced under Uttarakhand Epidemic Diseases, Covid-19 Regulations 2020, Epidemic Disease Act 1897, Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) section 144 and the Disaster Management Act 2005 will be in force from 10 PM to 5 AM in the city area under the purview of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) and the cantonment areas in the city.
While all public movement will remain prohibited during these hours, relaxation has been provided to essential and emergency services. Vehicles involved in medical and essential services including supply of fruits-vegetables, milk, petrol and gas will be allowed to ply during the night curfew. Further, medicine shops and petrol pumps will also be allowed to remain open. The persons travelling by flight, train and bus will also be allowed to move for this purpose. Apart from this, construction works in public interest will be allowed to continue and the labourers involved in the same will also be allowed to move during the night curfew. Workers employed in industrial areas will be allowed to move to and from their unit on presenting their identification card. Further, relaxation has also been provided to any person passing through the city area in his or her own vehicle to reach another district or state. Those attending marriage functions will be provided relaxation on showing the marriage invitation card. The MCD has been directed to ensure that an elaborate sanitisation campaign is undertaken every Sunday till 11 AM. Action will be taken under relevant sections against the persons found violating the night curfew.
