Niranjanpur Mandi Samiti opens new mini wholesale market
As a part of the plan of Niranjanpur Mandi Samiti to open several mini wholesale vegetable and fruit markets in Dehradun, the committee recently opened its first mini wholesale vegetable and fruit market “Apnu Bazar” in Sahastradhara Road.
Informing this, the president of Dehradun Mandi Samiti, Rajesh Sharma said that though the committee is planning to open multiple mini markets in the city, they have currently opened only one to ascertain the response of locals and vendors towards its operation. “We are planning to open another such mini wholesale vegetable and fruit market in various areas like Nanoorkheda and Maldevta where we operated for a few weeks when Covid-19 hit the Niranjanpur Mandi last year. We saw how difficult it was for local vendors and local residents after the Niranjanpur Mandi was sealed for few days due to the pandemic and this is when we decided to open mini wholesale markets to facilitate selling and buying of vegetable produce locally,” said Sharma. This plan also has the potential to provide employment opportunities to the locals as per Sharma. However, he clarified that the committee will go ahead with their plan to open more mini wholesale vegetable and fruit markets in the city when the new mini market in Sahastradhara Road turns out to be a successful venture. Moreover, he also added that the committee is also planning to open wholesale flower business in Niranjanpur Mandi but the plan will be executed only after they will get approval from Uttarakhand Agricultural Produce Marketing Board (UKAPMB) possibly within the next two months.
