NMOPS starts “Kanwad Yatra” for old pension scheme

While multitudes under the Kanwad Yatra to express their devotion to lord Shiva, the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS) commenced a “Kanwad Yatra” on Friday from Har Ki Paidi for restoration of the old pension scheme. The president of NMOPS Jeet Maini Painuly informed that the officials of the secretariat core committee of Uttarakhand started the activity considering for the restoration of the old pension scheme in the State. He said that the procession will reach the Neelkanth Mahadev temple located in Rishikesh. He said that keeping in view the sentiments of the government employees, some officials will reach the temple and pray to the Ganga and lord Shiva. Apart from this, the activity will also aim to raise awareness in the government so that it considers the demand for restoration of the old pension scheme, he added.
Painuly further claimed that for the last four years, the officers and employees of the secretariat have been undertaking various activities for the restoration of the old pension scheme. Employees are being made aware through activities like such programmes, marches and other types of activities so that under the banner of NMOPS, the public servants fight unitedly for restoration of the old pension scheme, he added.
He further informed that they had staged many protests in every district of the State for ending the new pension scheme but there was no impact of such protests on the government. He said that he hopes the current ongoing activity by officials will help restore the old pension scheme. The organisation will intensify the movement for restoration of the old scheme is the government continues to ignore their demand, he added.
