The National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS), Uttarakhand chapter would organise a thinking session in Dehradun on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former union cabinet minister Pandit G B Pant on September 10.

The general secretary of the NMOPS, Uttarakhand Mukesh Raturi said that the National president of the NMOPS Vijay Kumar Bandhu would attend the programme as chief guest. He said that the programme held at Officers’ club Yamuna Colony would be attended by representatives of more than 50 federations and associations of employees.

The president of the Uttarakhand NMOPS Jeetmani Painuli has said that Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand governments have announced restoration of OPS benefits for their employees.  The New Pension Scheme (NPS) was started in the year 2004 by the Manmohan Singh government to reduce the burden of pension on state exchequer.  The employees are finding the NPS non lucrative and are demanding the restoration of OPS in which the retiring employee gets 50 per cent of his last drawn salary as pension. In the OPS the employees also get the benefit of Dearness Allowance (DA), family pension and commutation.
