No funds for maintenance of irrigation canals: Qazi
Asserts that Uttarakhand received no money from Rs 65000 Cr fund of PMKSY
The Congress MLA from Manglaur, Qazi Nizamuddin has claimed that the Uttarakhand government has failed to receive a single penny from the Rs 65000 Crore fund of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY).
Talking to the media persons outside Vidhan Sabha after the question hour on Tuesday, the Congress MLA said that the state government in response to his question asserted that 392 irrigation canals are not operational in the state. He said that there are 3005 irrigation canals in the state and most of these were built during the Congress regimes in UP. Nizamuddin said that the minister accepted that Rs 120 Crore is needed for the repair and maintenance of these canals but it has only Rs 30 Crore available for the purpose. He said that the PM Modi repeatedly talks about the Rs 65000 Crore fund for farmers but it appears that Uttarakhand has not received anything from this fund. He said that under such circumstances the situation of the farmers and farming can be understood in the state.
