No further extension of civic body administrators’ tenure

In latest news from Uttarakand, during a hearing on public interest litigation (PIL) pertaining to elections to municipal councils in the State, the advocate general of Uttarakhand told the Nainital High Court that the tenure of the administrators of such civic bodies would not be extended. Further, election to these civic bodies would be held within the mandated six-month period.
After the AG’s statement on the matter, the division bench comprising the Chief Justice Ritu Bahri and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal dismissed the PIL.
