No hike in price of Ravi crop seeds: Uniyal

As in the case of Kharif crops, no increase has been made in the rates of the seeds for Ravi crops due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The state’s Agriculture and Horticulture minister Subodh Uniyal said this while chairing a review meeting of the Uttarakhand Seeds and Terai Development Corporation Limited (USTDCL) board of directors here on Tuesday.
The minister informed that the board had decided the rates for the seeds of Ravi crops including wheat, mustard and peas among others. Considering the Covid-19 pandemic, no increase has been made in the rates of the Ravi crop seeds. He further said that 30,000 quintal seeds will be provided to the agriculture department which does the task of providing these to the farmers. Regarding the demand of the personnel regarding ACP arrear, the board decided the arrears will be cleared proportionately as per the availability of funds.
The minister further informed that three years ago on the basis of an inquiry, an FIR had been lodged against 10 persons and an SIT probe had been set up. However, in that permission had not been granted for case on three personnel. This matter was discussed in the board meeting and a departmental inquiry was instituted in the same. Agriculture secretary Harbans Singh Chugh, agriculture director Gauri Shankar and USTDCL director Ankur Papneja were among those present on the occasion.
