The Bharatiya Janata Party stated on Tuesday that there is no internal conflict within the party regarding the Kedarnath Assembly by-election and it is not waiting for the Congress to announce its candidate. The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan stated that the BJP has a systematic process for declaring candidates and the responsibility of securing victory ultimately rests with the public.
Responding to a statement by the Congress, Chauhan said that the notion of discord within the BJP is baseless. “The BJP is a worker-driven party where discipline is paramount. Every decision is made democratically and with consensus, ensuring that all workers are respected,” he said. He also pointed to internal strife within Congress, highlighting recent developments. “The power struggle within Congress was exposed last week when a separate team of observers was announced for the Kedarnath by-election by the party’s State in-charge, contradicting the team earlier declared by the State president. Now, multiple observer teams are filing conflicting reports, causing further delays in finalising a candidate,” Chauhan added.
He expressed confidence in BJP’s readiness for the by-election. “The BJP has completed all preparations, from booth-level workers to district-level leaders and is deeply engaged with the public. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and with chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s efforts, significant milestones have been achieved in the development of Kedarnath valley. The work done to provide basic amenities to the people in the region is unprecedented,” he said, adding that BJP is certain to receive the public’s blessing in the upcoming election due to these developments.
