In latest news from Uttarakhand, women from eight villages of Upla Taknaur area of Uttarkashi district met the Gangotri MLA Suresh Chauhan and demanded closure of the liquor shop opened in Harshil. Following this, he spoke to the district magistrate and then assured the women that no liquor outlet would be allowed to open in the area.
The MLA said that with thousands of people coming here on pilgrimage, sale of liquor should be stopped. He urged all to maintain the sanctity of this area.
