With the preparations for the two-phase State Panchayat elections continuing in full swing, the Champawat district administration said that as part of the implementation of the State Election Commission’s ban on use of plastic/polythene in poster, handbill, banner and pamphlet among others during the poll campaigning, the candidates must take oath during nomination filing that he or she would not use plastic in any form while canvassing for votes.
Informing this, the district chief development officer, G S Khati said they would strictly implement the directives under Section 127 A of the People Representation Act, 1951, adding that the candidates must also procure written permission from the owners if their houses are used for pasting campaign materials.
