Party committed to free State from encroachments
The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that it is committed to remove encroachments from government land and that it does not support or protect anyone involved in encroachment. Reacting to allegations levelled by the Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahra, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that the person or organisation involved will answer in individual cases- not the party. The party does not advocate for anyone in private cases. The stand of the BJP is clear regarding encroachments in Dehradun, Haridwar or anywhere else in the State and in any such case, the law will take its own course.
Bhatt said, “The campaign against land and love Jihad is underway under the leadership of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami who has reiterated his commitment on this issue. Encroachments will be removed from government land under any circumstances to thwart land Jihad. It would have been better if the Congress played the role of a constructive opposition. The one-sided and personal allegations being levelled by the Congress make it appear as if it has a problem with strict action against illegal religious structures and other encroachments. That is the reason why it is trying to divert attention by making political statements on the basis of unconfirmed information on private cases.
The BJP is clean but the Congress dare not make this claim when it comes to corruption. The nation and the State have seen the Congress governments which were puppets of the mafia. It would have been better if those who protected the liquor, mining and land mafia acknowledged their errors especially when the public has punished them for this.”
