Nobel laureate Aaron Ciechanover will be part of Swami Rama Himalayan University’s (SRHU) distinguished lecture series which is being organised to promote a scientific temper among science students.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, the SRHU vice chancellor Vijay Dhasmana said that the university will conduct a two-day event from March 30 in which a distinguished lecture series will be organised to promote scientific temper among the student community. He said that the event will be joined by various scientists who have made considerable contributions in their respective fields of science across the world. “Aaron Ciechanover, the Nobel laureate for Chemistry 2004 will be the chief guest of the event. He will also deliver a lecture on the occasion and have an interactive session with research scholars, scientists, the student community and some citizens of the State to promote scientific dialogue and the environment.
This is the first time when a Nobel prize winner will deliver his lecture at a university in Uttarakhand,” said Dhasmana. Rajendra Dobhal, director of Strategic Planning, Research and Development at SRHU stated that the lecture series would be quite beneficial for the scientific community. He said that India has not won the Nobel prize in science for decades and such events and interaction of young minds with renowned scientists will inspire them to achieve great things in the field of science and research.
