As per the instructions of the government, to stop encroachment from the forest areas, the nodal officer has been deployed by forest headquarters. Senior IFS officer Parag Mudhkar Dhakate has been made the nodal officer. He will not just collect information about such encroachments but will remove them. This work will be reviewed daily and Dhakate will report this to the government.
Notably, forest land has been encroached upon in large measure in the name of religious places and others in the state. On the instructions of the government, Madhukar Dhakate has been made the nodal officer for marking such encroachments and taking actions like removal.
The forest department made it clear that it will not allow forest land around the urban and rural areas to be encroached in the guise of building religious places.
