Noted film and theatre artist Ghananand passed away in a private hospital in Dehradun on Tuesday. Known for his comic roles in Garhwali movies and a very good sense of humour, Ghananand was popularly known as Ghanna Bhai.
He was suffering from heart and kidney ailments and was on ventilator support for the last four days. The convenor of the Suno Pahad ki Awaj, Narendra Rauthan said that due to heart related issues a pacemaker was implanted on him recently. He said that a few days ago Ghanna Bhai was admitted to the hospital following a complaint of blood in urine.
The governor of Uttarakhand lieutenant general ( Retd) Gurmit Singh, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and other prominent personalities have expressed grief over the death of Ghananand.
In his message, the governor prayed for the peace of the departed soul and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
CM Dhami said that Ghanna Bhai’s simplicity, softness and unique acting style not only made people laugh, but also gave them a different perspective on many important aspects of life. He said that Ghananand’s contribution to the film industry and acting in Uttarakhand will never be forgotten.
