Former chief minister Harish Rawat has said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said nothing on reservation which can be called objectionable.
Interacting with the media persons at his residence on Wednesday Rawat said that in the last 10 years Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not addressed a single Press conference and has not participated in any public platform where questions can be asked to him. In such a situation it is obvious the PM is not happy with Rahul Gandhi’s talks on international platforms. He said that Gandhi has said about reservation only what BR Ambedkar had said in the constituent assembly.
Rawat claimed that in response to a question of a student, Rahul Gandhi said that there is no possibility of ending reservation in India especially when there is inequality in the country. He added that a similar thing was said by Ambedkar in the constituent assembly.
The former CM said that the BJP and its franchise holders had expressed their opinion against reservations many times and claimed that only BJP is afraid of reservations. Rawat said that the BJP has got a mindset of spreading animosity in the society. He said that in Dalit women are victims in more than 60 per cent of cases of rape and crime against women in last two years.
Rawat who gave a party of ‘ Kumaoni Raita’ at his residence said that he will try to find reasons for the defeat of Congress party in the reserved constituencies. He informed that he has made a plan to tour Gangolihat, Someshwar, Purola, Nainital, Tharali and Rajpur reserved constituencies soon and scout reasons for defeat of Congress candidates in the Assembly elections.
