Following the direction of the newly appointed Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal, the administration of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay (Coronation) district hospital has issued a notice to the cleaning agency to ensure the maintenance of hygiene in the hospital. The DM had conducted a surprise inspection of the hospital on Saturday. After accessing the basic service at the hospital as a general citizen, Bansal issued necessary directions including the maintenance of cleanliness standards and increasing the number of medication counters at the hospital. Consequently, the hospital administration has become more vigilant on these aspects.
Informing about this, medical superintendent of the district hospital Dr VS Chauhan informed that in compliance with the DM’s directions the hospital administration promptly issued a notice to the cleaning agency to guarantee that the hospital’s cleanliness is maintained in accordance with the standards. He further stated that the cleaning staff at the hospital typically work in three shifts to maintain hygiene. Chauhan added that instructions have been given to the officials concerned to increase the number of medicine counters at the hospital. Presently, there are three medicine counters and with the proposed increase, the total will reach five. Chauhan further emphasised that the administration will ensure punctuality among all staff members, including doctors, nurses and others. Tardiness of the staff will result in deductions from their monthly allowance. Further, he informed that after the DM visited the hospital, a meeting was held with the medical staff and instructions were issued to maintain a friendly and respectful demeanour towards the patients. Additionally, they were informed about the available facilities, such as the Ayushman card. Further, they were reminded to wear the appropriate uniforms and not to prescribe medications from outside the hospital, he said.
