With an aim to create a vibrant, sustainable and visionary leadership roadmap, a two-day National Summit of Institutional Leaders (NSIL) 2025 will be organised by the Vidya Bharati Uccha Shiksha Sansthan at Doon University from March 1, the university’s vice-chancellor Surekha Dangwal said during a Press conference held here on Thursday.

She said that this summit is being held under the joint aegis of the Higher Education department and the Uttarakhand Council of Science and Technology (UCOST). The main objective of the conference is to promote India-centric education and research, shifting the focus from the dominance of Western knowledge-based frameworks. Representatives from prestigious educational institutions such as IITs, IIMs, IISc, central universities, NITs, IIITs and other national institutions, including vice-chancellors, directors, senior professors and principals, will engage in discussions on various topics related to institutional leadership. Topics will cover multidisciplinary research, accreditation processes, strategies for implementing the National Education Policy, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship and enhancing academia-industry collaboration.

The summit will be inaugurated by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the closing ceremony will feature governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh as the chief guest. Dangwal said that principals from universities in remote regions will also participate, gaining insights into technology and practices that could benefit them in the future.

Additionally, the director general of UCOST, Durgesh Pant, highlighted that the summit will pave the way for a sustainable roadmap towards a prosperous Bharat. He said that the summit will also include a session dedicated to technical research exploring topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cyber security data science and machine learning. This focus is intended to create a supportive environment for scientific research in the state.

Notably, similar sessions were organised by the Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan in Indore in 2023 and in Lucknow in 2024. Many other officials also attended the Press conference.
