NSUI demands action on Ayushman Bharat Scheme frauds

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Uttarakhand registered its protest on the ongoing deterioration of health services and the alleged fraudulent practices by private hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat scheme on Friday. A delegation led by NSUI State President Vikas Negi met the chief medical officer (CMO) of Dehradun Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma on the day and submitted a memorandum.

In the memorandum the NSUI informed the CMO that the poor, labourers and middle-class people in Dehradun are struggling to access quality healthcare. There have been numerous complaints that some private hospitals registered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme are illegally charging money from cardholders, prescribing unnecessary tests and applying mental pressure on patients, which is extremely concerning.

The NSUI has demanded an impartial investigation into all private hospitals participating in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, strict actions against those found guilty and concrete measures to improve the overall health system in the district. Many NSUI members were present on the occasion
