A leader of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) Harish Joshi climbed a mobile phone tower at DAV PG College to protest the delay in announcement of the student union election date on Tuesday. Joshi vowed to remain atop the tower till concrete action is taken. Efforts were underway to convince him to come down though he was on the tower till the time of this report being filed.

Student leaders from NSUI and other DAV PG College students recently organised a protest on campus against the delay in announcement of the student union election date. Stepping up the protest, Joshi climbed the tower at DAV PG College on Tuesday morning. His companion also joined in raising slogans while protesting at the base of the tower. Joshi took to social media to declare that he would remain at the top of the tower until officials took action. Reaching the site, the police took action to maintain order and prevent escalation. Meanwhile, other NSUI members rallied to the residence of Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat but were held at a barricade by the police.
