Number of blocked roads drops to 15 as weather remains clear

With the State witnessing clear weather for more than a week now, the number of blocked roads in various regions has dropped to about 15. The Char Dham Yatra is underway without any major snags on the routes. According to information provided by the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), the highest number of blocked roads at present is in Pithoragarh district where six motor roads are blocked. These include one road under the PWD and five rural motor roads under PMGSY. While the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway 58 is open in Chamoli district, three motor roads including two rural motor roads under the PWD and one motor road under BRIDCUL are blocked in the district. Two motor roads are blocked in Rudraprayag district, which include a rural motor road under the PWD and another rural motor road under the PMGSY. The Rudraprayag-Kedarnath national highway 107 has remained open for traffic while the Sonprayag-Gaurikund-Kedarnath bridle path is also open. Helicopter services are also operating to and from Kedarnath. The national highways to Gangotri and Yamunoti along with all other roads are open in the Uttarkashi district. Similarly, all roads are open for traffic in Nainital, Pauri and Bageshwar districts. However, two roads are reported to be blocked in the Dehradun district- both of them rural motor roads under the PWD. One rural motor road under PMGSY is blocked in the Tehri district. Apart from this, all the roads are reported to be open for traffic in Almora, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat and Haridwar districts. Efforts are underway to restore the blocked roads.
