Officials deployed to manage tourist influx and traffic in Nainital

During the summer tourism season in Nainital, the district administration has deployed officials to manage the increasing number of tourists and traffic congestion during weekly holidays. The deployment aims to guide tourists at entry points and parking locations and ensure the availability of necessary facilities, the additional district magistrate PR Chauhan said.

He informed that the officials began their duties from Friday by reporting to their designated locations. The current deployment is in effect for weekends and the administration may increase the number of officials if traffic increases further. A meeting was held on Friday with the deployed officials, where they received detailed instructions about their responsibilities. Chauhan informed that vehicles entering Nainital from Haldwani will be parked at the Russi Bypass. From there, shuttle services will transport tourists to the main town. Similarly, vehicles entering from Kaladhungi will be parked at Narayan Nagar. If parking space becomes available inside Nainital town, vehicles will be allowed to proceed there, he said. He informed that the officials and staff have been assigned duties at the Russi Bypass and Narayan Nagar parking sites as per a roster.

The designated nodal officers and staff will inform tourists about the status of internal parking spaces in Nainital and ensure their transfer to the town through shuttle services. They have also been directed to maintain cooperative and courteous conduct toward tourists and respond politely to queries. He informed that each designated area has a sub-divisional magistrate and other senior officials, assigned to oversee operations. Officials have been asked to coordinate with local residents, hotel associations and trader organisations to provide smooth services to tourists, he said. 

According to the deployment order, the district tourism officer and chief education officer will oversee Bhawali and Kainchi Dham routes. The district programme officer, district economics and statistics officer and district development officer will manage Bhimtal. The district supply officer will be responsible for Nainital town. The executive engineer of Public Works Department Bhawali will handle Kainchi Dham and the executive engineer of National Highways, Haldwani, will be in charge of the Haldwani-Ranibagh-Jyolikot route, Chauhan added.
