Expressing dissatisfaction at official apathy, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the departmental officials to improve their working. At a time when power cuts and issues in water supply are being experienced in various parts of the State amidst high summer temperatures, he warned that officials will be held responsible and face action in case the people suffer from issues in the supply of electricity and drinking water. The CM said this while chairing a meeting with oficials of Power, Drinking Water, Forest department, Public Works Department and the Irrigation department at Banbasa during his visit to Champawat district on Sunday. Directing the officials to ensure proper arrangements at Purnagiri, he said that devotees coming to pay obeisance to Goddess Purnagiri should not face any problems with the supply of electricity and drinking water.
Dhami told officials to prepare supply schemes considering the projected electricity demand in the future. UPCL, PTCUL and UREDA should prepare proposals together and start construction of new power houses in the near future, he said. The district magistrate Navneet Pandey was directed to ensure quality, transparency and time bound completion in every construction work in the district. The DM should himself conduct site inspections and review the works, Dhami said.
“Officials should take individual responsibility for swift disposal of projects being delayed due to forest land transfer issues. For issues related to the State administration, the officials should meet the department concerned and myself to resolve the issue to prevent delays. Officials should accord priority to listening to the grievances of the public and ensure their timely redressal. Considering the rising demand for electricity amidst the rising summer temperatures, the officials should set up grid connected solar power plants in their offices and homes under the CM Surya Ghar Yojana,” the CM said while also appealing to the public to take the benefit of this scheme.
Dhami directed the PWD principal engineer to prepare a proposal for construction of bypasses in small cities and areas in the State suffering from frequent traffic jams. Officials should seriously consider options to provide permanent solutions to problems, he stressed.
