Olympian Neeraj Chopra scripts history once again

He wins Gold in Budapest World Athletic Championship

India’s ace javelin throwers and Olympian Neeraj Chopra who had made history by winning gold in the 2022 Olympic Games has scripted history once again as he has become the first Indian to win  Gold medal in the men’s javelin final as part of the World Athletic Championship being held in Budapest.  He secured the Gold with his fantastic throw of 88. 17 m. He got the better of the Pakistani player Arshad Nadeem who won the silver medal with his throw of 87.82 m.  The player from Czech Republic won the bronze medal in the competition with his throw of 86. 67 m.

Notably, two more Indian players D P Manu and Kishor Jena were also in the race. While Kishor finished fifth position with his throw of 84.77 m Manu finished sixth with his throw of 84.14 m. Importantly, this is the first time when three Indian players finished in the first eight in this event in the World Championships.

After his historic triumph, Chopra called the silver medalist Arshad to his side and had photos clicked together. Not just this, he locked Arshad in a warm embrace. The Czech player also joined them.
