Omicron more dangerous for elderly & people with pre existing diseases- Expert

The nodal officer for Covid-19 at the Government Doon Medical College  (GDMC) hospital here Dr Anurag Agarwal has said that the people with pre existing diseases should remain cautious from the Omicron variant of Covid-19. He said that the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus is highly contagious due to which it spreads very fast but in most cases it shows mild symptoms such as fever, body ache, back pain, sore throat, cough and dysentery. Dr Agarwal added that the omicron variant however can get serious in the elderly and people with pre existing disease so those who are in the above mentioned categories should take extra precaution. He said that the people should not hide symptoms and visit the flu OPD and get themselves tested. Dr Agarwal said that the patients should take medical consultation, wear mask, observe social distancing and get the vaccine on time. He said that four new patients were admitted in GDMC hospital on Saturday while eight were discharged. A total of 26 Covid-19 patients are admitted in the hospital and nine are in the ICU.
