One arrested for demanding Rs 20 lakh from shop owner

The police have arrested one person for attempting Rs 20 lakh extortion from the owner of Goyal Sweets in Haridwar. The Jwalapur Kotwali police arrested the accused Deepak in this case. The accused was a former employee of the sweet shop. According to the police, he had attempted to extort the shop owner due to his own poor financial condition.
Jwalapur Kotwali inspector RK Saklani informed that Pravan Goyal received a message on his phone late on Saturday evening.The sender of the message had demanded Rs 20 lakh from him. The sender of the message had warned that Goyal would be killed if the money was not paid. After receiving the threat, Goyal submitted a complaint in the police station. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police immediately registered a case and started tracing the number from which the threat was sent. Haridwar ASP Rekha Yadav said that the police first traced the location of the mobile phone from which the message had been sent. After this, the police caught the former employee of Goyal Sweets, who had left his job on his own some time back.The accused Deepak said that he had opened an eatery in the Jagjitpur area. However, due to loss in his business, he thought of extorting money from the owner of Goyal Sweets.Co-accused Mohit Kashyap, who had arranged a SIM card for the main accused is currently absconding.
