A man died and one man was seriously injured when a pine tree fell down on the car they were travelling in on the Derika-Rama Bend Road in the Purola area of Uttarkashi on Thursday. The tree reportedly fell down during stormy conditions. Derika resident Azad Painuli died in the mishap while Vikas Joshi was seriously injured. Expressing grief at the death, Purola MLA Durgeshwar Lal wished a speedy recovery to the injured man. As soon as information of the mishap was received, the authorities reached the site and extricated the injured man while also recovering the body. Traffic on the Mori Road was hampered due to the mishap. The authorities have advised the locals and pilgrims to exercise caution while travelling and to remain updated about the weather conditions.
