One dead, three injured in road accident in Uttarkashi

One person died and three sustained injuries after the utility vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge near Hanumanchatti in the Badkot area of Uttarkashi district on Wednesday. The officials informed that the Badkot police station received information about the accident in the afternoon. They called the search and rescue team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) at the spot to rescue the victims from the gorge.
The team descended into the gorge and rescued three injured men identified as Girish Chandra (43), Jaidev Singh (42) and Papendra Singh (42). The police rushed them to the hospital for treatment. They also found the body of a man named Sohan Lal (41) who was driving the vehicle as informed by the injured victims. All the victims were locals who were going towards the Jankichatti area of the district. The officials said that as per primary inquiry and analysis of the accident site, it appeared that the driver lost control of the vehicle while going from Badkot towards Jankichatti and crashed into a 100 metres deep gorge. The SDRF handed over the body to the police. The body was handed over to the family soon after completion of the required procedure, they added.
