A man died and two were injured in a shooting at Dobhal Chowk in the Nehrugram area of Dehradun late on Sunday. The shootout reportedly took place over a dispute regarding a mortgaged vehicle. The police have taken three people into custody for interrogation. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh stated that the police control room received information late on Sunday about a shooting at Dobhal Chowk during which some persons were injured and the culprits had fled the scene in a vehicle. A police team arrived at the location and two injured men were taken to the hospital for treatment. One of the injured men Subhash Chhetri was admitted to Kailash hospital by his family and the other victim Manoj Negi was admitted to Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital by the police. The families of both victims later shifted them to Mahant Indiresh hospital for treatment. The police also searched for the third injured person Deepak Badola all night along with his family members but could not find him. His body was found in a drain near Dobhal Chowk on Monday. The SSP said that a police team was also instructed to conduct checking across the district, especially in the border area of the district. Both the accused who had fled from the scene in a vehicle ran into the forest after leaving the vehicle near the Asharodi barrier. The police are searching for them, he said. Singh said that the injured told the police during the interrogation that Garhwali Colony, Raipur residents Sonu Bhardwaj and Monu Bhardwaj were involved in a money-lending business. Three residents from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Ramvir, Yogesh and Manish had been staying at their house for the past few days. They alleged that several cases of murders are registered against Ramvir. Their friend Ankush, a resident of Shivlok Colony in Dehradun, also used to visit Sonu’s house. On Saturday, a man from the Nehrugram area Sagar Yadav mortgaged a vehicle to Sonu for Rs 4.25 lakh. The vehicle belonged to Deepak Badola. Sonu had consented to the mortgage without Badola’s consent. Upon learning about this, Badola requested the return of his vehicle from Yadav, who allegedly started abusing Badola. Badola then contacted Sonu, who also refused to return it. Badola sought help from his acquaintances Chhetri, Negi and others who together went to Sonu’s house. However, Sonu and his accomplices opened fire at them, killed Badola and injured the two men. Singh said that Sonu, Monu and Yadav were detained by the police on Monday. Two police teams have been searching for the two absconding accused in all probable locations, he added.
